Early Years and Education

Born on October 3, 1963, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Anita Dongre’s foray into fashion was inspired by her mother, Pushpa Sawlani, who crafted clothing for Anita and her five siblings during their formative years. This early exposure ignited her passion for fashion, leading her to pursue formal education in fashion design at SNDT College in Mumbai, where she embarked on a degree course in fashion design.

The Genesis of House of Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre’s illustrious career took flight with the establishment of the House of Anita Dongre, a symbol of style and sustainability. Corporate Restructuring and the Creative Visionary

In a strategic corporate restructuring move in 2019, House of Anita Dongre Limited (HOADL) realigned its businesses, transferring AND and Global Desi to a newly formed subsidiary, Ochre and Black Private Limited (OBPL). This restructuring allowed Anita Dongre to focus on design, while her brother and sister oversee business operations. Holding the position of Chief Creative Officer, she continues to illuminate the creative landscape.

Balancing Personal and Professional Life

Anita Dongre seamlessly intertwines her personal and professional life, sharing a marriage with Pravin Dongre, a successful businessman. Their son, Yash Dongre, actively contributes to the family business. This harmonious blend attests to her dedication to both her craft and her family.

Championing Veganism and Ethical Treatment of Animals

Beyond fashion, Anita Dongre passionately advocates for veganism and the ethical treatment of animals, aligning herself with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Her commitment to sustainability extends beyond her collections to embody her personal values.
